Autumn EOM Leg 3: February 28th (Sunday) Sheung Wan
In October we resumed our popular End of the Month cycle. The Autumn 2020 EOM was intended to be played over 3 months October, November and December. But in December and January we decided to cancel the editions, and we will end the cycle on February 28th. All our students from Stepping Stones 2 to Step 3 from Sheung Wan, Discovery Bay, and private and online students as well as all our school ECA students are invited to join. External players are more than welcome to participate.
Entry fees in this event will be donated to Alzheimer's Research
Entries are STRICTLY limited to the first 24 registrations in each group.
Players will be assigned to a fixed group for the whole term and play for medals and trophies in their group. On the tournament day each player can face players from another group (from a higher group if the player is doing well, from a lower group if doing not so well). In the unlikely event that a player need to change group during the same cycle, his score from previous events will be ajusted (-1 point when moving up, +1 point when moving down)
The groups will be assigned based on previous tournament results, using our Caissa Internal Rating (CIR) or other form of assessment by the Caissa coaches.
How does it work?
For every group, the winner, 2nd place and 3rd place (depending on the size of the group) of each EOM event receive a medal. The players at the end of the 3 months with the most points will be the Autumn 2020 EOM Champions and receive a trophy (best 2 results of the term will be considered)
At each monthly EOM we have also some smaller prizes. Focus is on social chess with a flavour of competition as a friendly atmosphere is a key feature of the EOM.
The EOM is not suited for players who have several years experience playing tournaments. Players are welcome up to maximum Step 3 level.
The final leg of the 2020 Autumn Cycle will be played on Sunday February 28th at our Sheung Wan Centre, divided in two groups:
Groups C/D: 13.30-15.30
Groups A/B: 16.00-18.30
Registration will be closed on February 26th or after reaching 24 entries in each group, whatever happens first.
