TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS

  1. The tournament will be played at Zetland Hall. 1 Kennedy Road, Mid-Levels, Sunday November 21st for Under 10 (born in 2011 or 2012) and Under 12 (born in 2009 or 2010) categories, and on Sunday December 19th for Under 6 (born 2015 and after then) and Under 8 (born in 2013 or 2014) categories.

 

           Round 1: 2pm

            Round 2: 2.45pm

            Round 3: 3.30pm

            Round 4: 4.15pm

            Round 5: 5.00pm

            Round 6: 5.45pm

 

            Prize giving after the last round (approximately at 6.30pm)

 

2.    The tournament will be played according to the FIDE ‘Laws of Chess’, Rapid play.


3.    Tournament will NOT be rated, so all interested participants can play.


4.    The Competition System will be Swiss System, with 6 rounds. Pairings will be done by computer system and no claim against them will be accepted, except a mistake when entering the results. Players will have 15 minutes per game, plus 3 seconds of increment after every move.


5.    Players who are not present in the venue 10 minutes before the first round, won't be paired in that round even if they have paid the registration fee. Players who default a game without any notification to the Arbiter won't be paired in future rounds.


6.    Recording of moves is not mandatory, but scoresheets will be available.


7.    Mobile phones should be switched off in the playing hall, except with arbiter permission.

1.    Direct Encounter

2.    Medium Bucholz

3.    Total Bucholz

4.    Sonneborn-Berger.

5.    Armageddon game (White 5 minutes, Black 4, no increment, White must win)

 

9. Prizes

  • Trophies for the Top 5 players in each category

  • Trophies for the 3 best schools in each category (counting the best 4 players for each school)

  • Schools Champion Cup 2021 for the best school across all age categories (counting the best 4 players in each category for each school)

For school prizes, tie-break will be the highest position of the best player of each school
