U12 Youth Melson Cheng Wins Open Group Caissa Autumn Rapid
The yearly recurring Caissa Autumn Rapid (15m+5s) was played over 7 rounds spread out over two Sundays afternoons. 40 players visited the Caissa Sheung Wan centre to figure out who would still be able to bring home a Champion title in the last moments of the year 2021.
Impression of the event
After the first 4 rounds on 5 December, only Aidan and Gorkem went into round 5 on 12 December with 4 points, facing each other. Aidan won the game and went into round 6 alone on first place with the full 5 points.
But the last 2 rounds turned out to be decisive. Aidan stumbled twice into a loss and on other top boards draws and other points were spilled, it was Melson who kept his 5-in-a-row winning streak from r ound 3 all the way to round 7. Well done, the U12 crowned Open Champion today! Gorkem with 5 points had the best tie-break among the 5 pointers and still managed to get 3rd Prize. Seond Prize went to Lok Ching with 5.5 points.
Best U16 went to Aidan who on tie-break missed out 3rd Prize Open. Best U12 was Marvin with 4 points and Best U8 was Zachary with 5 points!
