IM Matthew Tan Wins GP5 Basque Chess - Eduard Garcia Leads GP Leaderboard
Sunday 24 July we held our Basque Chess event: a Rapid event playing both with white and black at the same time against the same opponent. Basque Chess in Action With 10 players joining - unfortunately it is still fact that relative few players in Hong Kong try out more social forms of chess - the field size was very much compensated by the field's strength. Eduard Garcia Wins Grand Prix 4 Rapid
On 10 July we played our 4th Grand Prix event, a FIDE rated open rapid (15m+3s), at our Sheung Wan centre, attracting 36 players, young and old, experienced and those gaining first-time experience. In a perfectly "compefriendly" environment, Chief Arbiter IA Alberto Muniz cruised the event from round to round into a successful ending. On the morning of Sunday 3 July the 2nd Grand Prix event in the 10 Years Anniversary cycle took place in Sheung Wan.
