It can be said that chess is Martial Arts for the Brains. Playing chess is a combat of minds, like two boxers standing in the ring, manouvering, finding weaknesses in the opponent's defense, so is a game of chess - focus, concentration and attention are crucial throughout the game as you are only as good as your last move was.
For a chess player, using the organ, the brain, that consumes 20% of the entire body's energy in a normal state, it is crucial to stay physically fit to support mental endurance of a full day's or several days spanning tournament.
On the other hand, chess supports the martial art mindset as it teaches self-discipline, not rushing in, looking at better options even if there seems to be a good one available.
We have partnered with Fitness in Motion and brought chess to the dojo.
