Caissa Team Goes to Bangkok 1st Summer International Open

During 3-10 July Caissa players were in Bangkok to participate in the Open Group and Challenger Group: a mix of experienced students/players and students completely new to standard chess.

Coach Emile was on site the whole time to accompany the players. In addition to taking care fo the chess needs of the delegation, Emile also played in the Open Rapid and brought home 6th Place Prize (results here).

In the Open Group (results here) we had only Paul participate in Caissa shirt. It turned out to be a somewhat unfortunate event; some bad luck prevented Paul from getting in his true form, and sometimes it is just like that. Paul is a talented strong player and will get back.

In the Challenger Group we had the first-time international and standard time control experience of Lolly, Summer and Nemo. At the end they started to find their rhythm and finally ended with 2.5, 2 and 3 points respectively. Well done, unfortunately they had to play against each other and other Hong Kong players as well.

Clare with 3.5 points and Ethan with 4.5 points ins their second classical event did well - and Clare, with 6 draws, turned out to be difficulty to defeat!

Athan performed very well. In the last round he lost and missed out a top 5 position, ending very decently still on 14th place with 5.5 points. And congratulations for clinching third place in the U18 category!
