Autumn EOM - Leg 2
For the second leg of the 2026 Autumn EOM Cycle the action moved to Discovery Bay. Smaller groups this time around - as is often the case, Discovery Bay is pretty far out for some people - sixteen players competed in the CD group while fourteen players battled it out in the AB group. Let's see what happened!

CD
In the third round we already had a title match. Only Woody Cheung and Rex Cheng won their first two games and faced each other on the first board. The match was even for a long time until Woody set up a nice trap. Rex fell for it eyes wide open and suddenly got checkmated by a knight! Woody didn't look back and won his remaining games to clinch first place with a perfect 5/5.

Eli Chang arrived with high expectations and went for nothing less than a medal. He started well in his first game and almost checkmated Emilia Purhonen, at some point both players were even convinced it was already checkmate! Nothing of the sort was true though and the game continued, Eli got distracted and eventually even lost after a very close encounter.
He mentally recovered quickly though and managed to win his four next games putting him in a deserved second place! Abigail Wang came in third with the same amount of points but a worse tiebreak. Lea Penarotti de Lima, Louis Wong and Aaron Wang all scored 3/5 and filled up the podium for the D-group in that order.
Congratulations to all the winners!
AB
All eyes on Ethan Chui. After winning the first leg, he has been very confident. Rumour has it he's even letting his classmates address him as "EOM-winner Ethan". As a past medal winner, he now has added pressure and responsibility to show the way. The first round still went well beating the young Gabriel Jiao. The engine however already faltered in second round when he came up short against Josh Au who won the B-group and the overall tournament last time.

Josh prolonged his streak to three wins but then knew a setback and lost his final two games. Ethan smelled his chance and completed his three win comeback to still clinch first place with a 4/5 scoreline. Ernest Ye who couldn't overcome Ethan in the final round after a 4/4 start finished in second place. Marc Guenancia (3.5) and Travis Ho (3.5) shared third and fourth place and with that took the first and second place B-group medals home!
Congratulations to all the winners!
