For the second leg of the Winter Cycle, the action moved to our Discovery Bay Center. Traditionally, we always have somewhat less players making it all the way over there, but now many people were also traveling for Chinese New Year. The result was a smaller and cozy tournament, but no less fun or excitement! In the C/D group, Josh Au didn't hand out any gifts and raced to a perfect 5/5. Blitz is fast paced chess. Not all chess players have the ability to handle their nerves in constant timetrouble while even fewer chess players are brave enough to even consider the only faster form: lightning chess. On 15 February, 27 fast chess enthusiasts gathered in our Sheung Wan center to fight out who could call themselves the CNY Caissa Blitz Champion 2026 after seven double rounds (14 games against 7 opponents). Following the succes of the first one we organised the second edition of our very own beginner's tournament: "MFM" short for "My First Moves" on 8 February. At Caissa we believe that even from a very young age, students can start enjoying the fun of competition. That's why we offer this special tournament, where only our own students play in a safe environment. For the B-group, we have mini-games, while the A-group builds towards "real" games.
