Update: Caissa Girls Club
In October, our Caissa Girls took the center stage with the launch of an additional girls' class. While our Saturday 10:00 AM class remains open to all levels, Wednesdays in Sheung Wan are now fully dedicated to our Caissa Girls Club. We offer a beginner class at 5:00 PM followed by a more advanced class at 6:00 PM. To kick off the month, we hosted our inaugural Ladies (K)night on October 7th at 7:00 PM, immediately following the girls' classes. Read more about it in our blog.

On Sunday the 25th, our Caissa Girls competed across two events: TCA's Girls & Women's tournament and our monthly EOM tournament in Discovery Bay. To help them prepare, we hosted a casual preparation session on Wednesday the 21st covering tournament logistics and strategy. Players preparing for the Girls & Women's event practiced managing time trouble with a 5-second increment, while those playing in the EOM tournament focused on 'slow chess' strategies and identifying unprotected pieces. Beyond board preparation, the evening was a great opportunity for the girls to connect before competition day.

At the tournaments, Coach Astrid guided the Caissa Girls at the Girls & Women’s while the EOM participants played a home match in Discovery Bay under the supervising eye of Coach Nomi. It was wonderful to see the Caissa Girls displaying fantastic sportsmanship, supporting one another, and making new friends with fellow competitors. A huge congratulations goes to Caissa Talent Ruiyan Ying (Yuki) for winning Best U12 at the Girls & Women’s Tournament, as well as to Lea Lima, Willow Huang, Emilia Purhonen, and Abigail Wang for taking medals at the EOM home!
Looking ahead, Coach Nomi will be hosting training sessions specifically for our most advanced girls. Please fill in this short questionnaire if you are interested.
