• Location: Malvern College, 3 Fo Chun Rd, Providence Bay, New Territories

• Date & Time: Sunday June 11

  • ​Registration: 12.15-12.50pm

  • Round 1: 1pm, Round 2: 1.45pm, Round 3: 2.30pm, Round 4: 3.15pm, Round 5: 4.00pm, Round 6: 4.45pm, Prize Giving: approx. 5.30pm

• ​Eligibility: open to all students in Hong Kong. As a scholastic event, all players are requested to wear their school uniforms.

• Age Categories: U8 (born 2015 and after then), Under 10 (born 2013 or 2014), Under 12 (born 2011 or 2012) and Under 18 (born from 2005 to 2010).

• Format & Time Control: FIDE ‘Laws of Chess’, Rapid play, 15  minutes per player and 3 seconds increment after every move

• Catering: the canteen will be open for some light food and snacks.

• Prizes:

  • ​Individual: trophies for the Top 6 players in each age category (if less than 20 players in an age group there will be 3 trophies)

  • School:

    • ​Trophies for the Top 5 schools in each age category (adding the scores of the best 4 players of each school)

    • Champion Trophy: Dr. R. Lister Cup for the school with the best total score (16 players: accumulated points of 4 best players in each age category). The R. Lister Cup can be kept for 1 year. The winning school name will be engraved.

• ​​Registration Deadline: 1st June 2023. After this date registrations will be put on the waiting list and play cannot be guaranteed.

Criteria for School Standings:

​

In each Category:

1- Total points scored by the best 4 players from each school

2- If all the schools which are tied have a 5th player, their score will be considered to break the tie. If still tied, the 6th player, and so on. 

3- In other case, the team with the best student in the individual standings will have preference

For the Global Standings (Dr. Lister Cup)

​

1- Sum of the points obtained by each school across the 4 categories

2- If all the schools which are tied have a 5th player in all categories, their scores will be considered to break the tie. If still tied, the 6th player, and so on. 

3- In other case, the total score of the best player of each in each category will be added. Then the 2nd, then the 3rd, then the 4th.
4- In the event that 2 teams are still tied, an armageddon game will be played between the highest placed players in a category that will be decided by drawing of lots
