Autumn EOM 2025: Congratulations to all who promote!

One week before the C/D group the players from the A and B groups played the final leg of the EOM Cycle. Why is that? Well, on the originally scheduled date, the HK Juniors were also taking place. Many of our stronger students wanted to play both tournaments, hence the reviewed date.

Let’s delve into the results of the final leg! Newcomer Jotham Fu wasn’t playing around and made his presence known with a perfect 5/5. After winning the first round against Sha Tin classmate Canice Fung, Jotham raced through the field picking up some notable wins. Only against Zanna Zee, he was in trouble, but after handling the situation on the clock better, he also took the full point in that game. Congratulations Jotham!

Zanna played a fine tournament once again, and only lost against Jotham. Her 4/5 was good enough for well deserved second place. Yu Fung Ng also scored 4/5, but finished in third with a worse tiebreak.

For the B-group, we have to go down the table to place 10. Wayne Liu scored 3/5 and with a better tiebreak than Ethan Tu clinched first place. Daniel Luu finished in third with 2.5/5

This cycle was one of hattricks. A cycle already consists of a hattrick of legs, but also many individual players scored one. Zanna Zee scored 4/5 for the third time in the Autumn Cycle. This was enough for her to win it all! Coincidentally, also her third cycle win in a row!

Spencer Sun emerged as the winner of the B-group, also for him his third cycle in a row. On the less positive side, we have Nemo Chen scoring a hattrick of coming late three tournaments in a row! This cost him the first round on every occasion. Hopefully, he has learned from this and will show up well on time next time!

Also many congratulations to Yu Fung, Julien Cheung and Max Tu for promoting out of the EOM by playing three excellent tournaments. The remaining A-group players will be joined by Spencer Sun, Ethan Tu, Wayne Liu, Jayden Luk, Daniel Luu and JJ Fei.

Then on to the C and D group. After two legs, Ethan Chui was in pole position to win the cycle. He had played two good first legs. Caleb Yang and Jovi Ngai also had scored high points, but decided to sit out the finals. But it was not going to be easy at all. Nicholas Chen made a spectacular comeback. Scoring only 2.5/5 in the first and skipping the second one, he was not on the radar for the cycle win. However, he raced through the field, scoring a perfect 5/5 clinching clear first. Mason Yu and Andy Cai scored 4/5, completing the podium.

For Ethan that meant, he had to score at least 3.5/5, which he did by winning his last game against Sheldon Liu. Nicholas finished second in the overall standings.

Congratulations to all the winners!

The D-group was also exciting. Two new faces stole the show in this leg: Lorenzo Beebe scored an impressive 4/5, clinching first place in the D-group and a shared second place in the overall standings! Zavanna Zee ended in second place with 3/5. You might recognize the name: she is the sister of A-group winner Zanna Zee!

The late surge of newcomers was not enough to influence the final standings of the cycle anymore. Ernest Ye and Ashton Tong held their top 2 status firmly and will be promoted to the C-group.
