Our FIDE rated Spring Blitz tournament was a relatively young, small but strong event. Out of the seventeen participants, twelve were rated! The event was played over seven double rounds, so everyone plays each opponent twice - once as White and once as Black.
Top seed FM Daniel King Wai Lam was the man to beat and at the end of the day he emerged on top. Second seed Yipeng Wan was able to hold Daniel to a draw, but only after losing their first game. After that Daniel won seven games in a row and allowed a draw in the last round against Yue Hei Wong to clinch first place with a near perfect 13/14. Congratulations Daniel!
Yipeng continued with a double loss against Andy Zhang after holding Daniel to a draw, but a strong finish of 5.5/6 still put him in second place half a point ahead of Andy who clinched third.

In fourth place we find Xianghyi Meng (Shayne) who took the U10 trophy home. Shayne has been in amazing form and keeps confirming his level. He'll need this good form to play in the World Youth Championship in Georgia later in June -good luck Shayne!
In seventh place we have another Caissa talent: Ruiyan Ying (Yuki). She took the first girl trophy home. Yuki has only recently started playing chess, but is already piling up the trophies. It'll be exciting to see her continue improve!
