U7

In the youngest category we have Alexander Tu and Richard Li, here playing against each other in the final round. They're good friends and represent the same school (Hong Kong International School) and got third place just between the two of them. Individually, Richard finished in sixth place while Alexander won all of his games and clinched first place with 7/7!
Congratulations Alexander!
U9
He might be getting used to it, but that doesn't make it any less special: Shayne Meng clinched first place with a perfect 7/7! Being the younger of the two ages in this category, that just makes it even more special!
Spencer Sun started off with a perfect 3/3 before getting paired against Shayne. Eventually, he lost, but he certainly didn't hand it out for free as both of them had some chances after the opening! Later he also allowed a draw against his good friend, school teammate and Caissa student Miles Aleister Chan. Sounds like a dull draw? It certainly wasn't, with sacrifices and/or blunders on both sides, it certainly was a hard fought draw.
Congratulations Shayne and Spencer! U11
In the U11 we had our biggest succes with 4 out of the top 5 place all Caissa students! In first place we have Ernest Liu who won all his games and clinched first place after a very close last game. He was getting pushed back for the bigger part of the game, but showed that keeping your hopes up can pay off! In mutual timetrouble, Ernest complicated matters to such an extent he won on time.
Jonas Lau, Declan Chan and Julien Cheung all scored impressive 6/7's and finished third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
Congratulations Ernest, Jonas, Declan and Julien!
U13

In the U13 Shreenidhi Balaji defended the Caissa colours flawlessly by winning her category with 6.5/7. She overcame Jotham Fu (fourth place) in the last round after showing better endgame technique in a complex pawn endgame. After months of good results and finally clinching a first place, this makes her our student of the moment!
Congratulations Shreenidhi!
U18
Caissa-affiliate and ex-student Brandon Fang showed no mercy to the field and clinched first place with a perfect 7/7. This promises for the upcoming World Team Rapid and Blitz Championship where he will be representing us!
Alyssa Lam finished in an excellent fourth place overall and took the best girl trophy home!
Congratulations Brandon and Alyssa!
This concludes our celebration of excellence, but of course we shouldn't forget many other students who played very well (and maybe even less well). We thank everyone for joining and making the event the success it was!
