Autumn EOM 2025: October edition in Discovery Bay

The second leg of an EOM cycle is traditionally held in Discovery Bay, this time was no different. Somewhat less players join this leg because of the distance, but the fun and excitement is as guaranteed as always.

Let’s first go through the C/D group. With only 14 players, everything was going to be super close at some point. For the C-group and overall winner, the critical round came as early as round 3. Yau Ning Chan won her game against Ethan Chui, after that she raced through the last two games and clinched first place with a perfect 5/5. Ethan recovered and also won his last two games, finishing in clear second place with 4/5.

For the D-group, everything was very close. There were five (!) players tying for overall shared third place with 3/5. Ashton Tong had the better tiebreak and took 4th place overall and first place in the D-group. Ernest Ye and Rudraksh Sudarshan followed with as many points.

A/B

The A/B group had 12 players competing, which also resulted in some swings throughout the day. In the last three rounds, we had a different person in first place every time. Of course, only first place after the entire tournament counts: congratulations Yu Fung Ng who scored 4/5. Zanna Zee slipped in the first round, but then had four straight wins and clinched second place with a worse tiebreak.

Julien Cheung (first place after round 4) and Max Tu drew against each other in the last round. Both went all in, because with a win they would win the tournament. After a hard fought game in which Julien especially had some great winning chances, the game ended peacefully. Julien had the better tiebreak than Max and finished in third place with 3.5/5 immediately followed by Max in fourth place.

In fifth place we find Spencer Sun, who was in first place after the third round. Although he reached two winning positions, he lost the last two rounds. The first place medal of the B-group was a good consolation prize for him.

Congratulations to all the winners!
