GM Alexander Ipatov joins Team Caissa at FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championships

As you are all aware by now, the FIDE World Team Rapid and Blitz Championships are coming to Hong Kong!

Caissa is sending two teams in the Amateur section (FIDE World Amateur Team Rapid Chess Cup). Team A will be led by Coach Astrid, Team B will be led by Coach Eduard.

Read here about their first team training.

In the open section we're very happy to welcome GM Alexander Ipatov on our first board. Together with Captain Coach Matthew, he will leading the Caissa team through a packed field with names like Magnus Carlsen, Ding Liren and many more.

Alexander has a clear link with Caissa as he did some camps and private classes during his time in Hong Kong. Being a former Junior World Champion back in 2012 (ahead of Ding Liren!), he is bringing world class experience to the table.

On 7 June, we introduced Alexander to the test of the team and did an online training session together. From getting insights in his journey to becoming a World Champion to analyzing games together to some proper online practice matches - we did a bit of everything!

We look forward to seeing Alexander and everyone else in action!
