Caissa Internal Club Tournament: Sheung Wan, January - April 2023
We are organizing a new kind of tournament this year, a Club Tournament aimed to provide a training venue for both our students as well as other chess players interested in a regular game of chess in a club setting. The internal club tournament will not be FIDE rated, hence encouraging players to practice new ideas, test out opening variations and such, without the fear to lose rating points to do so.
There is no better way to get better in chess than to play "long" games and as such we will follow Standard Chess time control: one game per week, 45' + 5'' / move. Games will be played every Sunday 2-4pm, starting from January 8th. Post-game analysis and friendly rapid-blitz games afterwards are not only welcome but encouraged!
The pairing will be done using the Keizer system, which allows for players to join whenever they are available. If you won't come you will not get a zero. The performance in the games you play will be considered. Although we encourage players to play as many games as possible, you can still end high, and be paired against equal level opponents, with good chess results, even playing less games.
Games will be played in our Sheung Wan center from January 8th to April 23rd with the following schedule:
January: 8, 15
February: 5, 12, 26
March: 5, 12
April: 2, 16, 23
The tournament is open to open to intermediate/advanced players, but we recommend it especially for:
EOM Graduates (Group A season winners)
Step3 and above students
Adults who need flexibility and cannot always commit to play each week.
NOTE: we reserve the right to reject the registration from players who are clearly below the Step 3 Benchmark
Depending on your schedule and commitment, you can register for 3 different packages:
Bronze: 4 times
Silver: 8 times
Gold: 10 times
Pairing will be done at 2pm on the play day. If you come later, you might be paired against someone who also comes later, but no guarantee.
TROPHIES WILL BE AWARDED TO THE BEST 3 PLAYERS OF THE SEASON according to the Keyzer System.
